Monday 23rd November - Panic

Philippians 4: 5-7 (NIV) Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Whenever unwelcome burdens come our way we may feel overwhelmed and panic if we cannot see a way forward. This is sadly, the situation for so many families in the ongoing pandemic. Worries about meeting basic safety, hygiene and nutritional needs of their loved ones causes great stress on top of financial stress.  As the Body of Christ we can look to helping those in difficulty in our communities by supporting places such as the Basics Bank and many other local organisations providing practical help and advice. Our contribution may feel like a drop in the ocean but God will use all those 'drops' to make an ocean.

Holy God, you have been bounteous in your provision to us, help us to discern with a generous heart where we can give to support those who have come upon situations beyond their ability to cope. Help us to assess our time, talents and finances that we may be able to contribute in a way that benefits those in need.  Never let us forget how generous you are with our blessings. In your name we pray. Amen.
