Sunday 29th November – First Sunday of Advent

Sunday 29th November – First Sunday of Advent

Collect

Almighty God,
give us grace to cast away the works of darkness
and to put on the armour of light,
now in the time of this mortal life,
in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility;
that on the last day,
when he shall come again in his glorious majesty
to judge the living and the dead,
we may rise to the life immortal;
through him who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

  1. Pray for the many Dioceses within the Canterbury Province and the Bishops and Clergy who minister in these places.
  2. We give thanks and pray for the work of the Agisters within the forest.
  3. Please pray for Mark and Melanie who celebrate their first wedding anniversary today.  Pray that God may continue to be at the centre of their marriage.
  4. Pray for all who live in Armstrong Road
  5. Mission of the Month: Tearfund - Tearfund particularly tries to support girls and women through education and training for jobs so that they can lead productive lives.  This also protects them from the risk of human trafficking and exploitation in the sex trade.  Pray that those at risk will be identified and they will be given hope for the future through training and support.
  6. Advent Calendar
    This year our church Advent Calendar is going  to be on line and people can ‘open a door’ each day.  We need people to create the pages which illustrate the verses of the day.  The pages can be photos, artwork, poems, pieces of music -  your originals or favourites that you have collected.  Please see the Parish magazine or speak to Sue Moss for more details.
